Okinawa undecided when is 90-day deadline

Okinawa Prefecture says that it remains unclear of the exact deadline for presenting its reaction to a government report on the planned relocation of a US base.

The prefecture said Thursday that the report, which assesses the environmental impact of moving the US Marine Corps Futenma Air Station to the coastal area of Nago City, is incomplete.

That makes it unclear whether the prefecture will honor its original plan to get its opinions back to the government within 90 days by March 27th.

Earlier in the day, prefectural officials confirmed that they received the report on December 28th.

Okinawa still wants to see the base moved out of the prefecture.
