Japanese trade minister to visit Myanmar next week

The Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister will visit Myanmar next week to explore ways to support the country's economy.

Yukio Edano will discuss economic issues with government officials and Myanmar's pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

The talks are expected to cover natural gas investment and industrial development.

Edano also plans to visit India and Thailand on a week-long trip to Asia beginning Monday.

In Thailand, Edano will visit an industrial complex hit by recent flooding. He will also meet Thailand's deputy prime minister to discuss restoration measures.
