Edano: Japan to help Thailand deal with floods
Japan's industry minister says the government will do all it can to help Thailand repair the damage caused by the massive floods across the country.
Economy and Industry Minister Yukio Edano met on Monday with visiting Thai Deputy Prime Minister Kittirat Na Ranong in Tokyo.
Kittirat expressed gratitude for Japan's assistance on the reconstruction efforts.
He said that Thailand is trying to drain the floodwaters and continued support from Japan would be appreciated.
Edano said that Japan is now in the process of rebuilding from the March 11th earthquake and tsunami, but that the government will do its utmost to assist Thailand.
Edano asked Kittirat to exempt tariff charges when Japanese companies send new machinery to Thailand to replace equipment damaged in the floods.
